Poetry for the Soul - Where are My Children?

Here is a poem that I'm sure you will enjoy!
By Irene M. Cash
Have you seen anywhere, a dear girl and a boy,
with a much younger sister, aged four?
It was only today that barefoot and brown,
they played by my kitchen door.
It was only today, or maybe a year…
it couldn't be twenty I know. They were calling me to come out and play,
now they've grown up and wandered away.
If by chance you should hear of a girl and a boy,
and their small winsome sister aged four, Please tell them, I pray, that to see them again,
I'd gladly stay hungry and poor.
Somewhere, I'm sure, they must stop and reflect,
and wish they were children again. Oh, to be wanted and with them once more
the way they were back then!
There is no task that would keep me away,
Could I just hear my children call me to play,
Where are my children?
I've got time…today.
